Zero to One

Note to future self…

Companies seem to have at least two very distinct phases in their early days. The first one is going from zero to one. This is all about figuring out how to generate substantial value for someone. Some people call this value hacking and some call it going from zero to one.

The second phase is the growth phase. Once a product can consistently deliver value to a user a company can shift gears into figuring out how can it provide that same amount of value to a lot of people.

Insight: Product-Market Fit sits right in the middle between the two. Leaning more towards the value hacking phase but still in the middle.

Takeaway: We’re still in zero to one. Don’t even attempt to leave this space until you have PMF. It will be futile.

Now back to work…
