Hell

Note to future self…

Today I was watching an interview with David Goggins and at one point he shared this short quote that really struck a chord:

“Someone once told me the definition of Hell: It’s the last day on earth when the person you became will meet the person you could have become”

I’ve written before about how my biggest fear isn’t to live up to my potential but rather not living an intentional life. I feel that this quote is so powerful because it addresses both of those fears.

Is thinking like this being too tough on yourself? I don’t know maybe but I really don’t feel so. Right now I don’t see myself changing to dispel this fear. It seems counterintuitive but I feel that it is this fear, in part, what drives me to keep going. Sometimes I can hear my superego repeating these words:

“How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?” – Epictetus

If our time in this world is limited, we might as well make the most out of it. Not for other and not out of fear. Instead, we should do it for ourselves and out of live.

That’s it.

Now back to work…
