Today I came across this quote:
“People should focus much more on figuring out what feels like play to them and looks like work to others because that’s your superpower and that’s where you’ll outperform everybody” – Naval Ravikant
This is an idea that I’ve heard quite a bit already but thought that this would be a good time to write some quick thoughts on it. First, I would say that I’ve found that one of the best ways to figure this out is to ask your closest friends what they think is something that seems very easy to you but hard to the rest of the world. They will probably over-do it and inflate your ego a bit but in general this can provide an interesting perspective.
Second, from my conversations with my close friends and my own reflections I came away with two “superpowers”. The first one is pure curiosity. There are few things (e.g. startups) where I go very deep and I can’t seem to have enough of it.
The second one is remembering interactions with people. My close friends are always surprised when I am able to remember specific details about my interactions with them and other people from years ago. I think this was an interesting one and it came up a couple of different times.
All in all, I think that this is just a thought provoking idea and it’s one worth coming back to from time to time.
Now back to work..
