A note to my future. Discipline matters. Actually, scratch that. Discipline is pretty much all that matters when it comes to achieving your goals. I am convinced that consistency is one of the most important things when it comes to achieving our goals. This might seem very evident, but I feel that we tend to forget precisely because it is so evident.
I tend to catch myself looking for a “silver bullet” that will accelerate my growth or quickly solve a big problem that I have. I’ve never really found one of those “silver bullets,” but I have realized that consistently chipping away at a problem is what ultimately brings the best results.
Discipline isn’t a sexy topic. It’s the opposite and we need to change that. We need to celebrate more the people that can consistently work on something that seems mundane but that in aggregate it’s quite significant. We need to focus on consistently achieving small wins rather than only wanting to hit home runs. The latter can only be done through the former!
