Note to future self…
We can be disciplined in many different ways. One of these ways can be the way we handle perception of our events in our life.
We can develop a methodology towards how we handle our perception of certain events specifically those that might tend to be rare (e.g. a tragic loss, stressful situation, emotional break-up, etc.).
Being “disciplined” about how we perceive things seems to be the message that the Stoics wanted us to apply to our every day lives but it’s hard.
It’s hard to evaluate events consistently because emotions get in the way. However, what we fail to see is that most events fall either within or outside of our control and just having the awareness to to make that distinction every single time can make us more disciplined about how we approach things.
Now back to work…
Basic Stuff. Hard Implementation.
